Tips To Get Started As A Personal Trainer

Probably the number one reason is that people who fail generally spend a lot of time waiting for things to be just right before they go and put things into action. So whether it’s your website, your studio, your equipment or your marketing material. Many people wait and wait and wait and instead of taking 3 months to get everything up and running, they end up taking 6 months or a year just to get things moving.

By the time that happens you’ve lost all your momentum, the winds out of your sails and you’ve got no chance of getting things started again. So people who are successful take action even when things aren’t quite ready they still make other things happen and the rest comes along as they go.

Waiting for perfection

People who fail generally are waiters and perfectionists and wait for things to be ready and all of us have a little bit of that perfectionist in us, some of us more than others, but I say that’s something you’ve got to fight, you’ve just got to put things into action and make it happen.

Marketing

Now the number two reason why personal trainers fail, is they don’t do any marketing. So when you’re out there in the fitness industry one of the things that you have to do is continually market yourself so that people can find your business and understand why you’re so good for them and why your business is such a good service for them. So one of the things you have to do is you have to do lots and lots of marketing. So many trainers get out there and they kind of setup shop and go right, and they wait for people to come to them and as a result the people don’t come and they end up losing out because they don’t have clients to sustain their business.

Now the number 3 reason is those involved in marketing don’t actually know who their target market is or who they’re going to go after. This is one frustration that I get consistently bombarded with is, “Oh I don’t want to eliminate anyone or I don’t want to alienate a group or I don’t want to just specify in one area.”

Which is fine you may not have to do that. You might be able to train lots of different people but in terms of marketing and advertising, you can’t market to everybody because everybody has different reasons for coming to see you.

Remember that just because you advertise a market to one particular segment it doesn’t mean you can’t train other people. Of course, at some point, you have to have to pick somebody and really go after marketing to them, but it doesn’t always happen the way you envisioned so be prepared to adapt. Don’t try and please everyone, it doesn’t work I guarantee it. To discover more about the four market segmentation categories visit this website: https://newsupdatesnow.com/

Don’t ignore the power of the internet

Another tip I’d like to share with you is to not ignore the power of The Internet. Ignoring the internet these days is just outright stupid. For example last month on Google 159,000 people in Australia alone punched into Google, personal trainer. So that’s how many people are looking for a personal trainer in Australia. That’s a lot of people that really want a personal trainer. Now they typed in different variations like personal trainer, personal trainee, all of those kind of thing but that’s a lot of people. If you’re not on the internet, you’re not getting found by those people. So out of those 159,000 people looking for a personal trainer, how many clients did you get last month from your website?

Now if you’re not on the internet or you’re on there and it’s not producing results, do something about it. You need to be easily found and then when people find you, you need to have an effective website that gets you clients. Now, if you don’t have that, you need to start learning about it as much as you possibly can.
